Yang Leaves Stroheim & Romann

May 11, 2009

LONG ISLAND CITY, New York - Kay Yang has left Stroheim & Romann, Inc. as vice president of design after 14 years with the company.

She was responsible for establishing ''Connoisseur,'' the high-end collection of Stroheim, now seven years old.

Her future plans are not known at this time.

Effective May 4, Yang's responsibilities have been assumed in part by Kathrin Hegge, the new director of woven design for Stroheim. Yang had been holding down that position along with her other duties since wovens director Keith Biggs left Stroheim last October. Hegge was previously wovens design director of Cowtan & Tout. She was with Knoll textiles prior to that post.

Jeannette Chen has been named director of print and wallcovering at Stroheim, a job she has been doing there for about 12 years on an independent consulting basis. Now she will be a full-time employee.

Julian Grauer, the previous president of Stroheim for many years, left the company about 18 months ago and was replaced by Bill Peters, Yang's direct boss. Peters confirmed the appointments and departure of Yang with F&FI.

Peters also said that Laura Root was also working for Stroheim on an interim basis as an independent contractor during Proposte, collecting samples for Stroheim.

Stroheim is owned by JAB, the large international home furnishings wholesaler with main offices in Bielefeld, Germany. Chris Jacob Schminnes is the president of JAB and has been actively involved in the activities of Stroheim & Romann, including the recruitment of Bill Peters as president.
