Vadain Enters American Ready-Made Market

September 6, 2004

GENEMUIDEN, Holland – Paul de Jong, commercial director of Vadain International, a $75 million division of Vadain Holding here, has launched a collection of readymade bedding, curtains and accessories for the American market.

"Vadain is well known in custom bedding in Western Europe where we are a market leader," de Jong explained. De Jong said his 28 year old company's expertise lies in its ability to design software and systems to meet the needs of the bedding retailer.

Today, Vadain has bedding production facilities in Helmond, Holland; in Poland, 60 km from Gdansk and two factories in Delhi, India. These factories produce readymade curtains, bedding, accessories for the volume retail and catalog retailer in middle price points, de Jong said.

"We're focused for the first time on the readymade market in the U.S., and we're present in Canada where we sell to Canadian Tire and Zeller's and some smaller customers." Vadain started in Canada in 2003 and is now adding U.S. business.

Vadain recently appointed David Cedolia as U.S. marketing and sales director based in North Carolina. He will be calling on retail customers, namely large home furnishings chains. Vadain has set up warehouse and distribution facilities in High Point, N.C. and in Toronto, Canada.

"We expect the U.S. to be potentially larger than our business in Europe but this is a long way off for us," de Jong said. "In order to reach our goals, we have developed a line especially for the U.S. which will be delivered to retail accounts by year end 2004. The line is more modern than traditional but it is geared to American tastes."

"We have a large sourcing department in India which can also give us a top range look for the mass merchant. We buy fabric everywhere including India, Turkey, Pakistan and Belgium."

"We use our own designs with a large internal group in the Netherlands. We offer not just product but also service. This includes design support for our customers as well as logistics. This includes state of the art IT systems. We sell the finished, packaged, product including in-store shelf fixture for proper display. The textile product is part of our total offer. We call this the 'tailor made decorative method.' We make readymade tailor made to our customers, or another way of saying it might be 'ready-mades custom made.' We market under private label and also under Vadain and Curdes brands in Europe. It's up to our customers if they want to use their private label or our label. Both of our brand names are trademarked in the U.S."

Vadain International will be showing at Heimtextil 2005, for the second time.
