Spanish Distributer Sells to China
August 1, 2008
ISTANBUL, Turkey – It was learned at Evteks that Mario Dembovsky of Superiores, a textile distributer, has partnered with Phoenix Textiles in China to create a third company, Valencia Home Fashion. Valencia will function independently to distribute Spanish textiles in China.
"Superiores currently buys Chinese, Turkish and Spanish textiles and sells them mainly to Spain and Portugal," Dembovsky said. "We make about €1.5 million per year. Now we've partnered with Phoenix Textiles because they've already set up a distribution line in China. We will distribute from five main locations in China to sell Spanish fabrics."
Valencia, which opens in August at the Shanghai Fair, marks a shift in global economy. "The Chinese market is growing very quickly," he said. "A lot of wealthy people are looking for high quality fabrics." Dembovsky also indicated that the value of the euro makes it difficult to continue business with the countries he currently works with under Superiores.
Valencia will focus specifically on upholstery and heavy curtains. "I am not trying to sell embroidery in China," he said. They are already very competitive in that department." Dembovsky also indicated that contracts with Phoenix were signed in July.
