ROSLYN, NY—Richard Hanfling, the President of Swavelle /Mill Creek Fabrics, Inc., has died.
This is the unfortunate outcome of complications from a stroke he experienced about one year ago. As a result of the stroke, he was unable to return to work at Swavelle Group, as the company is now known.
Due to the difficult situation Hanfling faced, the Swavelle print division found itself without its leader. It is not known at this time whether Hanfling was or will be replaced at Swavelle. It was Hanfling who helped establish the Swavelle print business in 1989 when he joined the company.
Although no official statement was made, Hanfling has been hospitalized in a coma for many months this year and finally succumbed to his condition.
At the time of Hanfling’s stroke Swavelle Group CEO Greg Thomases said Hanfling’s family wanted to maintain privacy about his condition and Swavelle respected that wish. Thomases could not be reached for further comment. No further information about Hanfling is available right now regarding funeral arrangements or survivors. It is known that he had two sons, however.

Hanfling was named President of Swavelle/Mill Creek in 2005. He had a vital role in creating the print line of fabrics for the jobber, retail, and furniture business in addition to Swavelle's contract division. At the time, Jeff Thomases, the current Chairman said: ''Richard Hanfling has been instrumental in the growing success of the many divisions of Swavelle Mill Creek Fabrics.''
