Pollack Launches New Fabric Collection 'Modern Times'
September 25, 2009
NEW YORK, New York - Pollack has just launched its new fall collection for 2009, Modern Times, with 28 new designs including the namesake pattern, Modern Times Velvet.
Originally introduced in 1988 by Mark Pollack, Modern Times Velvet is an avant-garde reinterpretation of a timeless pattern that was once a wool jacquard. Its sharp lines and geometric, gear-like design is softened by rich velvet and lush color options like Gilded, Truffle, and Mink.
Other patterns include designs like Interweave, woven with viscose yarns creating a frise-esque dimension, Eden, which depicts intricate blossoms and iridescent vines, and Sneak Peak, which deftly straddles tradition and technology using laser-cut sheer organza that opens out like tiny shutters.
Founded by RISD graduate Mark Pollack more than 20 years ago, Pollack says, "I try to inform my fabrics with a fine art sensibility.''
