O Ecotextiles Recognized for Green Pioneering

November 26, 2008

SEATTLE, Washington – At the recent Green Building Conference held in Boston, Environmental Building News announced this year's top 10 green building products and textile company, O Ecotextiles, was among them.

The company was established in 2004 and has built a reputation as a leader in the growing fight to bring green products to the forefront. The company's textiles are made from 100 percent organic cotton or other sustainably grown fibers like hemp, flax, silk and bamboo. All of the fabrics are certified by third parties to meet the Oeko Tex Standard 100 and some fabrics are certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard.

Sisters Patty Grossman, CEO and Leigh Ann Van Dusen, general manager, founded the company through inspiration from their children and each other. After a four-year search across the globe for environmentally-conscious manufacturers, the two began world with Romanian farmers, a Japanese mill owner committed to green processes, a 100-year-old Italian mill that produces no waste water, a Chilean mill and an Italian dye house that produces biodegradable, heavy-metal free textiles.
