Johnston Textiles Names Morelli CEO
November 17, 2011
Phenix City, AL -- Jim Morelli has been named President & CEO of Johnston Textiles, Inc. by Lee Hansen, chairman.
Morelli replaces Virchil Brown who recently retired. Morelli has more than 35 years of business experience, Hansen said, including CEO of AF&Y (American Fibers & Yarns), prior to its closing.
Morelli is expected to lead the next stage of Johnston’s growth with the recent consolidation of all manufacturing to the Southern Phenix mill here. He is expected to work with the existing management team to ensure a smooth transition while accelerating customer product development and our expansion, according to Hansen. Johnston Textiles is a vertically-integrated manufacturer of value-added textiles.
“With the completion of our consolidation into Southern Phenix and investment to upgrade our manufacturing operation, Johnston Textiles is better positioned to serve existing customers and new markets,” Hansen said. “The investments in our equipment and production facilities demonstrate our commitment to the American textile industry and provide an excellent foundation in supporting our customers and their business success. Our strategy is to invest in our facilities ahead of our customers’ anticipated needs, thereby ensuring that Johnston Textiles is prepared to service the returning and growing “Made in the USA” movement.
Johnston serves a diverse number of industrial, residential and commercial markets including hospitality, office, healthcare, worship and theater seating; decorative upholstery, wall coverings, marine, contract furniture and bedding fabrics. Johnston also has an independent, fully-certified textile testing business called Textest.
