Industry Great, Aaron Greenberg Dies

July 3, 2007

NEW YORK, New York—Aaron Greenberg, 76, one of the fabric industry's great leaders and loveable characters, passed away Saturday, June 30 due to complications from cancer.

A funeral service was held for the family and his closest friends at Riverside Chapel in New York City on Sunday, July 1.

He is survived by his wife Arlene and two children.

Greenberg was executive vice president of Lanscot Arlen for many years. Lanscot is a major New York-based fabric converter in its day. Greenberg and Lanscot were considered major players in the U.S. led export market in the 80's and 90's during its peak when prints were hot sellers. Greenberg often traveled long distances, overnight if necessary to see his beloved customers, as far away as Australia and South Africa if the need arose.

"I enjoyed closed to two decades working with Aaron and building together a leading position in exports from the USA," said Henner Haufe, principal of Creative Furnishings Fabrics in Germany.

More recently, Greenberg worked several days a week as a consultant to Warren Leshen, principal of Dukane Fabrics Inc., selling fabrics to the closeout market.

Greenberg will be remembered by his many friends for his great sense of humor, his robust love of life and his generous spirit.
