ITG Consultant Rice Named President of Interior Fabrics Divison
November 29, 2004
GREENSBORO, North Carolina – Derrill Rice has been named president of the newly named Interior Fabrics Division of International Textiles Group (ITG).
He reports to Joe Gorga, CEO of ITG, the newly merged group of companies acquired out of bankruptcy by Wilbur L. Ross, the industrialist.
Rice was previously president of New Businesses for Interface Fabrics Group and prior to that, president of Chatham Fabrics, which was acquired by Interface. Prior to his new appointment, Rice was working for ITG as an independent management consultant.
We are excited to welcome Derrill to the company, said Gorga. Derrill has tremendous industry and market knowledge and a proven track record for transforming businesses into leading global competitors. Derrills strong background in marketing, sales, operations and global supply chain management will further complement and accelerate the product innovations and growth initiatives in these businesses, both domestically and overseas.
In his new position, Rice is responsible for Burlington House Contract and Decorative Fabrics; Burlington House and Cone Jacquards. Heads of those product lines report to him including Howard Cantees, vice president of the contract fabric division.
"Asia will be a key part of our strategy to grow this business either from a sourcing point of view and/or as a potential export market," Rice said. "To be important in China from a selling standpoint, one must have an asset base in China," he added.
ITG also owns Cone Denim, Burlington WorldWide, Interior Fabrics, Carlisle Finishing and Nano-Tex, LLC. All told, the new company has sales in the $900 million range with debt of $75 million.
Interior Fabrics Division recently relocated to 706 Green Valley Road from the original Burlington Headquarters in Greensboro.
