Former Export Director, Umit Soysal, Leaves Persan

December 30, 2009

ISTANBUL, Turkey - After spending six years as the export director for Turkish fabric wholesaler, Persan, Umit Soysal has left the company and is pursuing other interests and affiliations.

With Persan, Soysal was responsible for managing and marketing of the cut-length and piece good business into new markets, setting up possible cooperation for wholesale through Warde in Lebanon, Svad Dondi in Italy and others. She also was responsible for bringing the Persan brand name into international markets and succeeded in establishing the name in 10 different countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, Israel and the UAE. Prior to her work with Persan, Soysal was a sourcing agent for Intertex Group, Inc., a national sales and marketing organization for interior textile products in the U.S.

Soysal began her work in textiles with Base Tekstil in Bursa, where she was the marketing manager of the polyester yarn marketing and export company. There, she supervised the preparation of samples and directed external marketing programs. After her time there, in the early 90s, Soysal worked as a project manager for Oteks Tekstil in Istanbul and in the mid to late 90s, Soysal worked as the export manager for Dina Tekstil, the high-end home textile line which is part of the Erol Turkun Group, also in Istanbul. Soysal continues to work as a representative for German company August Bunger Bob Textilwerk, a well-known European producer of weighting tapes (leadbands) and accessories for industrial curtains and sheers. Additionally, she has agreed to help two Turkish suppliers help expand their export production capacity and is also in talks with some European companies to help them expand into Turkey and other countries such as those in the Middle East.

''There are many companies jobbers, converters, editors who visit the Turkish mills regularly during the year,'' said Soysal. ''Some of them are served well, and some have difficulties with developments and orders, delays on deliveries or would like to start some programs with new suppliers. I can be a very good sourcing an organization office for these types of buyers in case they would like me to cooperate with them. They can save from travel costs and reduce communication problems and save with timing on their follow-ups.''

While she is sure that there will be lots of opportunities ahead, Soysal is eager to organize efficient projects and use her wide knowledge of the industry for the best benefit to herself and the companies she will work with.
