Former Craftex President, Robert Blum, Dies at 93

JUPITER, Florida - Robert B. Blum Sr., former president of Craftex Mills in PA and resident here, died on September 14, 2009 at the age of 93. The cause of death was congestive heart failure.
From the end of W.W. II, where he served as a lieutenant and captain of the PT Boat 122 in the South Pacific, until 1984, Mr. Blum was President of Craftex, a manufacturer of fine jacquard fabric. The design archives of this mill was recently sold to Victor Group of Canada. Craftex lines continue to be produced by Victor although the Blue Bell, PA based mill was closed.
A long time resident of Society Hill, Mr. Blum served on the boards of the Philadelphia Maritime Museum, the Seaman's Church Institute of Philadelphia, St. Peters' School, where he was Board Chairman for 15 years, St. Andrews' School in Middletown, DE, the Parents Board of Trinity College in Hartford, CT and more recently FAU Honors College in Jupiter, FL.
Mr. Blum is survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Leslie Rogers; three children, Robin Smith, Robert M. Blum and Nicholas C. Blum. He was predeceased by a fourth son, Jay H. Blum in 2005. He leaves five grandchildren; one great-grandchild and his sister, Jean Seder. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peters' School in Philadelphia, PA or St. Andrews' School in Middletown, DE.
