Brunschwig & Fils Tour with ''Defining Elegance''
March 19, 2007
WHITE PLAINS, New York – A firm popular for its decorative fabrics, trimmings, furniture and wallpaper, is taking on quite a different medium; dresses.
Luxury fabric house Brunschwig & Fils, located in the Design & Decoration building in New York City, will tour across the world with their traveling exhibition, "Defining Elegance," starting March 27. The exhibit will feature evening gowns designed by eight award-winning costume designers who used Brunschwig & Fils fabric to create unique dresses. The tour will start in the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles and continue across select cities in the United States and Europe. The final stop for the tour will be New York, where there will be a gala benefit for the Actors Fund and an auctioning of the dresses.
The dress designers were given the option to select any fabric of their choice within the Brunschwig & Fils brand, including silk taffetas, prints and damasks. Among the designers are two-time Tony Award winner, Martin Pakledinaz, 2007 Academy Award nominee for "Dreamgirls," Sharen Davis and Emmy Award nominee for "James Dean: An Invented Life," Randy Gardell. Other dress-designers have costume credits for films such as "Men in Black," and "I Know What You Did Last Summer," and design credits for television shows such as, "That 70s Show," "The Bold and the Beautiful," and "Without a Trace."
