Bella-Dura Taps New Yarn Supplier
October 3, 2008
GARFIELD, New Jersey - Wearbest Sil-Tex Mills Ltd., has been successful in its search to find another source of filament olefin yarn used to weave its Bella-Dura™ line of outdoor fabrics.
American Fibers & Yarns, the original suppliers of the filament olefin yarn, filed Chapter XI and will liquidate by October 15.
Irwin Gasner, owner of Wearbest, would not say at this time where the new yarn supplier was located but he did say the yarn was exclusive to Bella-Dura fabrics.
"We had been aware for some time of AF&Y's financial condition prior to its bankruptcy filing,'' said Gasner. ''As a result, we built an inventory of AF&Y yarns to protect our current group of 30 partners who each buy exclusive Bella-Dura designs. In addition to our current inventory, our new yarn source offers us the exact same yarn we were using before so that we can offer our partners the same proprietary solution dyed designs of Bella-Dura as before."
Gasner also said there were more potential partners for Bella-Dura in the wings and more lines to be created by existing partners in the future. For the moment, they will have to wait until Wearbest can fulfill the demand of its current customer base, he explained.
"We have lost five domestic U.S. suppliers in the past few months including Wellman (polyester), Spectrum Yarns and Burke Dyeing," he said. "Nevertheless, we have had no interruptions in our business nor in the quality of our fabrics."
