COMO, IT—The four-star Cernobbio hotel has been in the hands of the Ambrosini family for fifty years and will now be renovated by new owners, the Villa d’Este Group.
Visitors to Proposte in 2025 may not be able to stay at the hotel due to its continuing renovation. Room prices are certain to increase at this hotel after the renovation.
Miralago is located on the village square, where Harry's Bar - which the group added to its portfolio last February - also stands, the hotel has 40 rooms, a restaurant and a bar. Dating back to the 1930s over time the six-story building was partly transformed and modernized, with the top two floors added in 1991.
The operational management of the hotel will continue without interruption with the current staff until the end of the season under the leadership of the Ambrosini family. After the 2024 closure, a major renovation is expected to move the hotel up to modern hospitality standards.
“Just a few months after the acquisition of the Harry Bar in Cernobbio, we are very pleased to now also be able to count the Miralago Hotel in our group," says the chairman of the Villa d'Este, Giuseppe Fontana. "It is a historic building and a symbol of authentic Italian hospitality, managed for two generations by the Ambrosini family. For us the town of Cernobbio is the ideal place to grow also by diversifying our portfolio. We are convinced that the Miralago is an important asset for our project growth.”
