Venus Industries To Launch Up-Scale Trim Line

October 29, 2003

LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. - Venus Industries plans to introduce a high-end 20-color trim collection in 2004 to compete in a softened industry and keep its grip on the home furnishings market, which counts for over half of the company's business.

''Venus has always supplied major U.S. textile and bedding manufacturers like Springs Industries, but with the decline in the U.S. industry, it was obvious we had to expand our customer base,'' said Stan Sloan, president of the 75-year-old family business.

Sloan characterized the venture as ''more complex than anything else we have ever done,'' saying that the company is refashioning its thousands of narrow grip trim SKUs into ''sophisticated fringe.''

He is confident the collection will sell. ''At Showtime...we found new buyers: retailers, jobbers and furniture manufacturers who wanted open line product and custom trims,'' Sloan said. ''We know there are other companies serving this market but we offer product that is comparable at very attractive price points.''

Sloan has hired Jack Nunnally to market the collection.
