Van Lathem Acquires Clairdecor

Templeuve, France - Clairdecor, a 50-year-old jacquard fabric producer in Tourcoing, France was acquired in July by Van Lathem for an undisclosed price.

Van Lathem is a 100-year-old manufacturer, importer and exporter of trimmings.

Michel Van Lathem, owner of both companies expects to offer Clairdecor fabrics for distribution through his network in France and the U.S.A.

Societe Textile de Courrieres (STC) is a subsidiary of Van Lathem and is the actual owner of Clairdecor. Claridecor produces medium to high end collections of jacquards whose export is currently less than 10 percent of sales. ''Export can grow and we will think about exporting to the USA,'' said Van Lathem. ''We''re still discussing how to do this.''

STC will manage distribution of the Clairdecor line. Veronique Moreau is the director of Clairdecor. She has been with STC for 10 years. STC itself was acquired ten years ago. It produces the Aquarelle brand of trim.F&FI
