Turkey's Home Textile Export Increased by Two Percent in 2005
February 9, 2006
ISTANBUL, Turkey -- According to the export figures of the Istanbul Textile Exporters Union (ITKIB), Turkey's home textile industry increased exports by two percent compared to 2004, earning 2.2 billion dollars in 2005.
Among the export products, kitchen and toilet products played a major role in export, totaling approximately $618 million.
The industry's 2005 performance is evaluated as weak due to China's rising impact on global markets. Turkey's home textiles export rise does not reflect the total textile and clothing export industry, which according to the same export figures, reportedly declined in 2005.
