Trend Table Grows at Heimtextil 2009
December 3, 2008
FRANKFURT, Germany – To expand upon the successful and popular trend team of Heimtextil's 2008 fair, Messe Frankfurt has added two more agencies to the team for the 2009 trend section of the fair.
In Jan. 2008, Heimtextil Frankfurt presented its first ever team of trend forecasters made up of five European design agencies. This year, in addition to design agencies Alvisi e Alvisi (Italy), bora.herke stilburo (Germany), Carlin International (France) and stijlinstituut amsterdam (The Netherlands), Japanese design agency DAN Project and London's The Future Laboratory will be joining the trend table.
Young designer, Dan Namura, runs DAN Project and has experience designing everything from textiles and interiors to bags and shoes. Namura develops textiles and graphic prints for customers like Need'K Textile and the furnishing chain In The Room by Marui. The team from The Future Laboratory in London develops trend forecasts and brand strategies for customers such as BMW, the Gucci Group, Gap and Nokia through a network of 3,000 trend scouts and an in-house market research and trend analysis team.
The trend team has come up with six themes which Anne Marie Commandeur from stijlinstitut amsterdam describes as follows: "Our aim is to deliver with our trend forecast more than merely a trend overview. Our aim is to provide inspiration whilst stimulating imagination and innovation through insights into new developments, initiatives and closer links to different markets."
In addition to the new members of the Heimtextil trend team, this year the Heimtextil Trend 2009/2010 book, "Expect the Unexpected," will be published in magazine format with collages, illustrations and photographs of designs, fabrics and furnishing sets which explain and help fair goers visualize their trend forecasting.
