Rapid Growth Sends 4-Year-Old Show to New Venue
Chiasso, Switzerland - Rapid expansion prompted the Trade Link Company to seek a new venue for its Scoperta exhibition this year. The show, now in its fourth edition, will open its doors 7-10 May in Chiasso, Switzerland at ''Il Palapenz,'' a large exhibit hall with a vast temporary structure.
In relocating from Mendrisio to Chiasso, the show managed to stay in the scenic Swiss Alps but will now be just minutes from Proposte in Como, Italy. As in previous years, Trade Link will provide a shuttle service between Scoperta and Proposte during show hours.
Scoperta owes its rapid growth to its timing as much as to its location, according to Bill Davis, principal of the Trade Link Company. May is an established busy buying time for upholstery and interior fabric buyers, he said.
But Scoperta''s appeal to exhibitors has also been the audience drawn by the exhibition, said exhibitor Steven Graven of Culp. Buyers drawn to Scoperta include distributors and decorators as well as furniture manufacturers, which means the audience is looking for unique qualities, not just price and volume, Graven said.
Scoperta will now accommodate over 80 exhibitors, double the number of its first edition in 1999. F&FI
