Toga Builds U.S. Export Program
August 7, 2002
Standerton, South Africa - Toga Linings Ltd., a 50-year-old company, is expanding a line of sheer fabrics and a readymade curtain program for the export market, according to David Townsend, managing director.
America is the first target market for Toga exports with Europe to follow. Townsend said he is also exploring the possibilities of export to Australia.
The readymade curtains range will feature Toga brand products that will be cut and sewn on a joint-venture basis with another partner in South Africa, Townsend said. The program also includes readymade bedding in single, double, queen and king sizes for the American market.
In addition to the pre-packaged readymade, Toga produces a range of drapery lining, voile and printed drapery fabric using a two-color rotary printer and two wide width transfer printing machines - 1.6 meter and 3 meters.
A polyester/poly-cotton mill, Toga uses Sulzer air jet and projectile looms for plain and sheer fabrics of various weaves. Toga is a subsidiary of Salmon & Cie, a French company with shares traded on the Bourse under the name of Schaeffer Group, the parent company. Salmon purchased the balance of the interest of ownership of Toga from DMC last May and is now the sole owner. F&FI
