Tietex International Acquires Burlington''s Upholstery Business

Spartanburg, SC (USA) - Tietex International, Ltd., has acquired Burlington Industries'' upholstery business.

Burlington filed Chapter 11 in November 2001. As part of its restructuring, Burlington divested a number of business units, including its upholstery business, which consists of weaving operations based in Burlington''s Williamsburg plant in Caswell County, N.C. In addition, Titetex will own and operate the Sheffield finishing plant in Rocky Mount, N.C.

''It is our intention to continue the employment of the people dedicated to this upholstery business and maintain uninterrupted supply of product to its customers," said Martin Wildeman, CEO of Tietex.

The business will be operated as a subsidiary company of Tietex International. Michael Durham, who is currently responsible for Burlington House Upholstery business will be the president of the new company.

"We are delighted to have Tietex as the new owner of our upholstery business," said Durham. "Tietex will allow us to continue our progress in the marketplace and provide continuity for our employees and customers."

Tietex International, Ltd., is a private company with operations in the United Stes, Mexicoa, Thailand and Australia.
