Stark Launches Paint and Furniture Lines with New Brands

November 18, 2009

NEW YORK, New York—Stark Carpet Corp. has launched its first lines of upholstered and occasional furniture and fabrics under the Sherill Canet brand, its first paint collections under the David Oliver label and its first fabric collections under the Kat Burki label.

Jay Hupp has also introduced an expanded collection of 30 mural designs in the wallcoverings segment for Stark based on 18th-century archival drawings.

The Stark paint line consists of 240 paint colors designed to complement its fabrics, carpet, wallcoverings and furniture collections, furthering its image as a one-stop shop for the designer.

The paint industry is a billion-dollar business in Europe with revenues estimated to be even larger than that in the U.S., according to David Oliver, design director of Paint & Paper Library, a successful paint, fabric and wallcovering distributor in Europe.

Stark Paint is the result of a four year collaborative effort with Oliver, who has served as a consultant to Stark in the U.S. paint venture. Stark Paint is headed up by Arthur Phillips, executive director of Stark Wallcovering. Phillips said Stark Paint-colours by David Oliver is not only free of VOC's and made in the America, but it is also available in three finishes including velvet emulsion, porcelain shell and lacquer gloss.

Paint choices will be drop shipped to the customer directly from Stark at $59-$88 a gallon.
