Standard Textile Acquires Belgian Textile Company

October 27, 2003

CINCINNATI - Standard Textile Inc. recently bought Belgian Textile firm UCO Contract Textiles, the company's fifth acquisition since 2001, the Cincinnati Business Courier has reported.

''The addition of UCO solidifies our market presence in Belgium and France and gives Standard Textile access to other European hospitality fabrics that can be used throughout our global operations,'' said CEO Gary Heiman.

UCO's 20 employees - including General Manager Ignace Vandenberghe and CFO Etienne David - are to join Standard Textiles's European operations. Heiman did not disclose the agreement's financial terms.

In 2001, Standard Textile acquired the King Mill facility in Augusta, Ga; Conception Tissage Distribution in Lyon, France; and the Thomaston Mills Peerless Division in Thomaston, Ga. In 2000 Standard Textile bought Pfeiffer Textile Switzerland and Pfeiffer Textile Germany.

Standard Textile manufactures textiles for the healthcare, hospitality, and industrial markets.
