Showtime Officials Preview Safety Precautions for Nov. 15-18 Edition
November 6, 2020
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Showtime organizers previewed safety precautions for the upcoming Nov. 15-18 edition.
“We know that a lot of people have some concerns with how Showtime will be run, and we wanted to address those issues,” International Textile Alliance President Kelly DiFoggio says during a webinar this week.
She adds the organization held a successful High Point furniture Market in October in the same location.
Everyone should preregister to keep registration lines reduced, she adds.
In addition to regular registration areas in Tower 1 (Market Square first floor entrance) and Tower II (Market Square second-floor entrance), there will be a new area in the Market Square Courtyard.
The stairs will also be open on the first-floor entrance for first time.
Officials will be monitoring people’s temperature at the entrance of each building each day, including Valdese and Sunbrella standalones, and those with temperature less than 100.4 will get colored wristband, which changes each day. For those with temperature higher than 100.4, they will have their temperature rechecked five minutes later, and if it’s the same, given assistance to where they need to go, but not allowed to enter Showtime.
DiFoggio says at Market there will be someone at the elevators to push the buttons and clean the area. And hand sanitizer containing 60% alcohol will be available throughout the various buildings.
The capacity of each showroom will be posted at the entrances as well as elevators, which will be from two to four people.
“Everyone will have to wear a mask,” she says, adding no bags will be allowed on the temporary floor or in the Tower hallways.
FOOD SERVICES
There will be no self-service food or beverages, and all will be prepackaged.
TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING
Here are some of the issues regarding transportation.
Exhibitors who want to show their products to buyers not attending Showtime will be offered a couple virtual marketing services.
“We’re doing everything we can to keep Showtime safe,” DiFoggio says. “We are excited to have a Showtime … we haven’t been able to do so for about a year.”
