Scoperta's 7th Edition to Show in Italy's Fiera Milano

July 26, 2005

GLOUCESTERSHIRE, UK — Scoperta is moving to the recently constructed Fiera Milano in Milan, Italy next year. The show will take place from May 9-12, 2006.

The seven-year-old show, which is organized by the Trade Link Company, was previously in Chiasso, Switzerland.

"The move to Italy will place Scoperta in amongst the top three textile exhibitions being held around the world," said Andy Green, managing director of the Trade Link Company. "Over the past three years we have seen visitor numbers at Scoperta increase by 19 percent whilst many other events in the sector have experienced a decline so we know that there is a commercial demand for our show. It is a very exciting time for Scoperta and with an additional 1000sqm available at the new venue, Fiera Milano, we will see the exhibition expand by a further 30 percent."

Fiera Milano, Europe's largest exhibition center, opened its first pavilions in Milan in March 2005, creating a 345 thousand square meter exhibition space. Additional buildings will open later this year.

According to Michele Pernini, Fiera Milano president, Fiera Milano hopes to attract trade fairs that have outgrown their current spaces, and hopes to create a few fairs of its own.

"We don't want to be aggressive," said Pernini. "We want to accept exhibitions that need space to grow, and design shows that are the best of the best." Fiera Milano has previously announced that it will be the new host of Salone Internazionale del Mobile.
