Scoperta Cancelled; Exhibitors Scramble

CIRENCESTER, United Kingdom - The 12th edition of Scoperta originally scheduled for May 5-7, 2009 in Chiasso, Switzerand, has been canceled by the organizer Trade-Link Ltd.
The website www.scopertaexpo.com says that Scoperta has been canceled and there is no further information or contacts there. Bill Davis, owner of Trade-Link and the founder of Scoperta could not be reached for comment.
For nearly a dozen years running, Scoperta was an international fabrics fair for designers, manufacturers and traders in the global interior textiles industry. It was held each May in Chiasso, Switzerland, about 20 minutes away from Proposte in Como, Italy. In 2006/7 Scoperta was held at the Milan Fairgrounds but returned to Chiasso last year. In 2008, there were 41 exhibitors and visitors from 70 countries at Scoperta. It provided a location for many converters, producers and wholesalers who could not gain admission to Proposte.
At the time of this announcement, several exhibitors who were scheduled to show at Scoperta were scrambling to find other locations to show their lines during the time of Proposte, May 6 - 8. There are several hotels in the area, especially the Grand Hotel di Como, which have showrooms available to fabric suppliers.
