Quaker Expands
January 17, 2003
FALL RIVER, Mass. - In an effort to increase international sales to half its business, Quaker Fabric Corp. has added sales and showroom operations in Bombay and Singapore.
''Singapore is a central location that will be a springboard to Indonesia, the Philippines and eventually all of Southeast Asia in our effort to position ourselves as a global leader in the upholstery fabric industry,'' said Tom Muzekari, vice president sales and marketing.
Meno Liew, a fabric sales agent for four years, will head the Quaker sales office in Singapore. Liew has been an affiliate member of the Marketing Institute of Singapore since 2001.
Mohit Agrawal will run the Bombay operation. He was previously sales manager of Raymond Limited, an Indian textile company.
Quaker now has full-time salesmen in Dubai; Beirut, Lebanon; Newmarket, England (near Cambridge); and five salesmen and separate warehouses each in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Mexico. F&FI
