Pret pour la Maison debut in Brussels

August 28, 2003

BRUSSELS - Trade Link Company's exhibition, Pret pour la Maison, the trade show for ready-made textiles, debuts at the Kart Expo in Brussels September 5-8, 2003. Running concurrently with another TLC show, Textiles d'Interieure Premiere (TIP), Pret's purpose is to connect producers and distributors in the growing readymade textile market.

"Come and see how things are changing and you will find that traditional manufacturers are working harder at producing new collections more frequently to respond to the fast-changing needs of the market," said Bill Davis, TLC managing director.

A substantial proportion of textile readymades will be manufactured outside of Europe as commercial barriers diminish. Imports of finished goods from India are up 80 percent. Exports of Pakistan's quality bed linen are increasing and its volume goods are reaching from the Far East. Wal-Mart-owned supermarket group Asda, reported that home fashions are performing strongly last quarter. Marks and Spencer extended its home concept to larger stores, and saw sales in this area increase by 10 percent.

"The trends in the retail segment are visibly clear and Pret bolsters the efforts of readymade producers and distributors to get new merchandise to the retail shelves," said Nick Bond, show manager, TLC.
