Prestigious Achieves Another Gain
December 10, 2001
Bradford, Lancashire, UK - Prestigious Textiles has managed to produce a slight increase in sales in 2001, pushing the company's turnover above $40 million for the first time, said Trevor Helliwell, principal.
Helliwell attributes the growth to an increase in export business. "Cut-length business was up in our home market but the piece business was down. As a result, our export growth offset a decline in the domestic market," he explained.
"We doubled our sales in the Middle East last year and Southeast Asia has recovered a bit for Prestigious.
"In general, the world is calm business-wise but Textile d'Interieur Premiere in Brussels (TIP) was better than we expected," he said. Prestigious' five-year-old readymade curtain business was up eight percent and currently accounts for 30 percent of all sales, Helliwell said. F&FI
