Philippe Starck to Create Entertainment Destinations for SBE Entertainment Group

LOS ANGELES, California – SBE Entertainment Group (SBE) and famed hospitality designer Philippe Starck have announced a design contract to develop entertainment destinations in Southern California.
The six-year deal will yield nine distinct restaurant design concepts for use in North America, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Properties are slated to open as early as the end of 2005 and will continue to open throughout 2006.
According to SBE, the deal, upon completion "will anoint Southern California as home to more Phillipe Starck property designs than any other place in the world."
The announcement broadens the current relationship between Starck and SBE's hotel division, SBE Hotel Group.
"In the hospitality business you are always seeking innovative ways to be better and exceed your customer's expectations," said SBE Chairman/ CEO, Sam Nazarian. "SBE is excited to collaborate with Philippe Starck, who is a master of design with an exceptional talent to visually communicate and captivate."
The contract was arranged by Michele Caniato, president of Culture & Commerce, Inc., as part of a branding strategy for SBE. "This deal is a perfect 'marriage' between two savvy, visionaries who drive business through design. Philippe Starck's design style is internationally known and Sam Nazarian is like a 21st Century Medici. By that I mean he has diversified interests, his company includes restaurant, hotel, film production and real estate divisions. Together Mr. Nazarian and Mr. Starck can create world-class destination properties," said Caniato.
