Pacific Weavers Acquires Skyline's Jobbing Operations
January 5, 2001
Garden City, NY (USA) – Pacific Weavers, a distributor of decorative fabrics, announced last Thursday that it had acquired the jobbing operations of Skyline Mills Inc., a 40-year-old manufacturer of draperies and multi-purpose goods.
Pacific Weavers is conducting Skyline's day-to-day operations from its Garden City, NY, location, according to company president Barry Sendach. All of Skyline's inventory has been relocated to New York. "We acquired it to gain market share in the drapery market," said Sendach.
Neither party would disclose the price of the acquisition.
According to Skyline president Craig Schwartz, the company will retain its government contract fabric manufacturing operations, which are based in Kensington, MD. "[The sale] is a focus issue," Schwartz said. "I can focus on an area where we are the only player and where we see the most growth. The jobber business is not a growth industry."
