New Trade Show to Debut in Las Vegas in July

February 11, 2005

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — World Market Center Las Vegas and Messe Frankfurt, Inc. this week announced a new trade event, Interior Lifestyle USA, to be launched in conjunction with World Market Center Las Vegas's first Market Week from July 26-29, 2005.

The show will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center concurrently with the World Market Center temporary exhibits and the AWFS Fair (Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers). Combined, the three events are expected to attract more than 70,000 buyers from the U.S. and the world.

"Having analyzed the U.S. markets, we believe that World Market Center is poised to become the predominant international market place for home furnishings and hospitality contract in the U.S.," said Roland Bleinroth, President of Messe Frankfurt, Inc., organizer of the Hemitextil and Ambiente shows held annually in Frankfurt, Germany.

The addition of the new exhibit puts the inaugural Las Vegas Market at a total of 2.5 million square feet of permanent and temporary exhibition space, making it the largest single debut of any home furnishings market, said the organizers in a press release on Wednesday.

Interior Lifestyle USA, to be produced as a show within a show at the Las Vegas Market, will cover home product categories including design-oriented furnishings, interior accessories, textiles, bed/bath/kitchen linens, furnishing fabrics, upholstery fabrics, curtains and draperies, wallpaper and wall coverings, carpets, floor coverings, decorative domestic lighting systems, crystal, glass, table-top, porcelain, seasonal articles, and decorative art.

The organizers expect the collaboration with Messe Frankfurt to prompt many global manufacturers in the home textiles and furnishings industries to exhibit in the U.S. for the first time.

"As a result of this collaboration, we will expand the resources and products from international exhibitors, and further attract buyers from around the world to the Las Vegas Market," said Jack Kashani, co-managing partner of World Market Center.

For its part, Messe Frankfurt welcomes the grand entrance it will now make to the U.S. "The international offerings of this show on the scale and diversity proposed is unprecedented and Messe Frankfurt is committed to expanding its contributions to this platform in the future," said Bleinroth. "The success of World Market Center in creating a critical mass of exhibitors for its debut event, and its ambitious plans for rapid expansion of its Market is truly remarkable."

With this strategic agreement, the managing partners of World Market Center have positioned their new showroom and exhibition complex "as a significant international player in the home furnishings and hospitality contract industries," said Shawn Samson, the other co-managing partner. "We will continue to expand our international strategic alliances in the future."

Spanning 7.5 million square feet upon completion, World Market Center Las Vegas will be an integrated home and hospitality contract furnishings showroom and exhibition center. Phase One, opening in July, is already fully leased to 230 companies, and will feature permanent showrooms consisting of furniture, decorative accessories, lighting, area rugs and related segments, as well as a Design Center open year-round to the trade.

"World Market Center will be responsive to the needs of the global economy, and has more international appeal than any other U.S. market," said Shawn Samson and Jack Kashani, the co-managing partners of the Center. "Las Vegas is already the top U.S. destination among U.S. and foreign travelers. Las Vegas will attract thousands of international buyers."
