BRADFORD, WEST YORKSHIRE, England — Bradford-based fabric supplier Edmund Bell & Co. Ltd., the U.K.'s leading supplier of curtain linings, has been acquired by Marsh Fern, the Stockport, U.K. subsidiary of Hanes Industries of Conover, North Carolina, U.S.A.
Purchased for a cash sum, Edmund Bell supplies nine million meters a year of curtain linings and related fabrics to major curtain manufacturers, retailers and distributors for both domestic and contract use.
Established for more than 100 years, Edmund Bell's range has over 300 variations, including blackout, flame retardant, thermal and crease resistant. The company has more than 3,000 customers.
Marsh Fern supplies a range of lining fabrics for the upholstery, bedding and home furnishings markets. Last year, the company acquired Dennis Moss & Sons of Manchester, a U.K. producer of furniture and mattress construction fabrics, woven tickings and made-up household textiles.
