MDI, Grandness Introduce Trims
January 17, 2003
Bangkok - The 20-year-old home decorative company, MD Intertrade Holding Group Co., Limited, Thailand, is introducing 10 trimming collections at Heimtextil. Grandness Co., a member of the group, will be also launching an exclusive range of tiebacks and Thai silk fabrics for the high-end market. Additionally, it will display new silk furnishing fabrics and trimmings made of natural yarns. Grandness said it is looking for agents and distributors to cover regions of Europe, America and Russia.
The company manufactures tassels, trims, rods and Thai silk furnishing fabrics. Nancy Sirichotekunakorn, managing director, said that the company's traditional Thai hand-made tassels are translated from the 'Benjarong' art form, using five colors with gold backgrounds. Seventy percent of the production process is done by hand. During the 1800s, gold-gilded tassels were used exclusively in the Royal Household, she said.
''The beauty of the tassels and trims emerge from this fine skilled Thai craft,'' Sirichotekunakorn said. ''We should be reducing the production cycle time for certain hand operations by installing special purpose machines without sacrificing the features of the product.'' F&FI
