DALLAS, TX — Kasmir Fabrics is catching up with the competition among U.S. wholesalers for global expansion with the opening of 17 showrooms in 2012, most recently with all seven of Basford Brands showrooms in Australia.

Kasmir is a major U.S. fabric jobber with a very well developed workroom business which makes finished product for its customers. The expansion will focus on cut length of the Kasmir line. Basford Brands, a major wholesaler in Australia also sells Sekers, Maurice Kain and Filligree branded blinds from the UK.

As part of its recent international expansion, Kasmir has also placed its line with two Telas y Telas showrooms in Mexico City and two more locations in Guadalajara and Monterrey; also with Kawashi International in Singapore and La Albaida Decoracion in Malaga and Marbella, Spain. Recently, it made a deal to distribute its line in Vilnius, Lithuania through UAB Sortimenti. Jessica Fitzgibbon and Alexis-Jon Keeton

The Kasmir program with these foreign showrooms is strictly cut order in the middle to high end price points.

Johnny Keeton Studios based in New York, is the company behind these deals as the international selling agent for Kasmir. Keeton originally hails from Dallas, home base for Kasmir. He worked out the details of the international showroom effort with Linda Kasmir, president.

Recently, Johnny’s daughter Alexis-Jon Keeton has returned to Johnny Keeton Studios to help with the Kasmir expansion in Australia. She is based in Melbourne, Australia where she represents all JKS key lines including  Spectro Coating- USA;  Jacquard Tecidos- Brazil; SY Liangs- Taiwan; Sushitex- India; Kasmir-USA, Linotex- Mexico and Carina-Turkey. 

Alexis-Jon says she is “comfortable in working in the fabrics industry after many years dealing with the New York based and Canada, and also with the US jobbers and retailers. When she’s not selling fabrics for JKS, Alexis-Jon can be found teaching swing dancing.
