Jean Baudrand Passes Softly

LONDON, UK—Jean Baudrand, an important influence on the textile design scene for his entire working life passed on the evening of October 29, 2024.
His daughters Catherine and Sophie wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that we share with you that our beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully, on the evening of October 29, 2024. We wanted to let you know that, in line with Papa’s wishes, his funeral service will be at West London Crematorium on Friday December 13.
Jean Baudrand was born in Lyon, France December 3, 1940 into one of the country’s foremost textile / design families. He studied Textile and Business at Lyon Textile University, acquiring his ‘best training working for companies in different countries during summer vacations.
He was also the President of the Association des Lyonnais de New York from September 2007 until his death.
He established Jean Baudrand Consultants Ltd. in 1978 as a specialist in design trends and business management and had 44 plus year relationships with clients including Covington and J.B. Martin Co. He produced many successful decorative fabric collections under the ‘Jean B.’ brand for Covington.
He will be most remembered as a patient man with a lot of class and charismatic charm who went out of his way for a friend. He loved entertaining at his homes in London and New York. He adored his daughters and his grandchildren. He always had something brilliant to say in every conversation.
“Our hearts are broken but we take comfort in the fact that he is free from pain and feel so lucky to have shared so much of our lives with him,” his daughters say.
“Over the last few difficult months Papa was so comforted and touched by the many messages of love and support that he received, by the phone calls, and emails and visits, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for those,” the daughters add.
