August 17, 2023
SHANGHAI, China—The first showing of Chinese textiles in four years due to COVID restrictions saw buyers from many countries in attendance. South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, UK, Italy, Spain, USA were all represented by major fabric buyers.
China-made upholstery, especially chenilles body cloth, were priced as much as 10 percent below what they were four years ago as mills sought to fill up their order books.
“There’s no place else in this world which offers as much quality product at such good prices as China today,” says Robert Schweikert, principal of SIC, a major global wholesaler based in Poland. He is considered the largest buyer of Chinese made upholstery in the world today.
