Interiortex Overhauls Cyrus Clark Designs

November 14, 2003

NEW YORK-William Zales has collaborated with investors to create Interiortex, a company they hope will take on the business of now-defunct print converter Cyrus Clark Co.

Cyrus Clark went bankrupt on May 7 after 76 years in the business.

Zales and his partners bought Cyrus Clark's assets October 16 through the U.S. bankruptcy court. The assets include 69 Cyrus Clark print designs, all of the associated inventory and other miscellaneous physical assets.

Interiortex will display a new line in January in the temporary section at Showtime in High Point, N.C. and at the Texoprint stand at Heimtextil 2004.

In addition to converting its own line, Interiortex has formed a strategic relationship with Texoprint of Holland. Interiortex will be the North American sales agent for Texoprint while Texoprint will be the export agent for Interiortex.

''There are some big plans for Texoprint to market and merchandise their line in North America through Interiortex,'' Zales said. ''The same will be true for Texoprint marketing of Interiortex in Europe,'' he added.

Texoprint designer Harry Adriaans and Interiortex designer Eagle Richter are have teamed up to create complementary lines.

Texoprint principal Michiel Braakman agreed to the deal since befriending Zales when he was printing the Cyrus Clark line.

Interiortex is operating out of offices at 267 Fifth Avenue, New York.
