Interface Fabrics Acquires Carolina Decorative

January 1, 2010

Elkin, N.C. (USA) — Interface Fabrics Group, Inc., through its subsidiary, Chatham, Inc., acquired the Carolina Decorative Fabrics business from Carolina Mills late last year.

The business will operate as Carolina Decorative Fabrics under the Chatham and Interface Fabrics Group umbrella, according to a press release. Manufacturing facilities and production equipment were not included in the acquisition. The Carolina Decorative Fabrics business will add production volume to the existing manufacturing facilities of Chatham and Guilford of Maine (a company in the Interface Fabrics Group) and will allow the companies to market a budget brand to the residential, hospitality and contract markets. "The Carolina Decorative Fabrics team has done an excellent job of creating a product value story in their upholstery fabric markets and has demonstrated market share growth even during this difficult economic period," said Derrell Rice, vice president of the Interface Fabrics Group and president of Chatham, Inc.

Mike Burch, formerly with Carolina Mills, has been named vice president of Carolina Decorative Fabrics, and will report to Rice.

Residential products for Carolina Decorative Fabrics will continue to be represented to the furniture industry by Carolina Decorative Fabrics' existing sales team. Contract products will be marketed and sold by the Guilford of Maine sales organization. F&FI
