Imatex Wins Copyright Suit Against SAS SA Sanpere

May 17, 2007

ALICANTE, Spain -- According to Imatex export manager Marco Guggi, on Feb. 28 2007 the court of Alicante ruled that SAS SA Sanpere had copied Imatex's ''Belladonna'' pattern. Sanpere was forced to withdraw all samples and books that displayed the infringing fabric from the market and donate them to the Red Cross.

Also, ''all stocks in possession of SAS SA Sanpere had to be donated to the Red Cross. All indemnity had to be paid to Imatex. We prefer not to disclose that amount,'' Guggi said.

''We would like to praise the Spanish courts for their efficiency and use this case as a clear message for all those companies that do not respect copyright and think they can use freely the creativity of other mills for their own interest,'' Guggi said.
