Imatex Premieres Natural Warps
April 21, 2004
NIBIONNO, Italy—Imatex S.p.A. will be showing its new class of fabrics woven on natural warps for the first time at private showings at The Palace Hotel in Lake Como beginning May 4.
This new collection will be produced in a new factory apart from the existing Imatex weaving mill. Imatex is one of the few European manufacturers making an investment in new plant and looms during a difficult economic period. "It is a completely new venture…and the decision to use a separate factory was made in order not to penalize the service and routine of the existing lines," the company said.
The natural collection is targeted to upper end wholesalers and editeurs who prefer con temporary designs and natural warps as opposed to polyester warps. "They [Imatex] did not want to lose business in specific segments of the market that in the last couple of years shifted from traditional woven jacquard fabrics to a more contemporary fresh look; it was time to move again," a company spokesman said.
Until this moment, Imatex had only produced fabrics on polyester warps so this is a major move for this well known Italian mill, one of the largest in Europe. The 100 percent natural warp fabrics in blends of cotton, linen and viscose will be marketed under the Imatex brand but will have a separate swatch presentation to be identified immediately, the company said.
The fabrics are primarily "clean minimalist textures suited for contemporary and transitional looks with very pure, fresh, sharp and clean colors," the company said. According to Imatex, all new products introduced at Proposte using these natural warp constructions are available for immediate production. "The management expects to offer in a short period the same level of service given on the other brands," the company said. Expanded ranges of the company's four distinct brands woven on polyester warps will be shown at Proposte. These are: Helios (upper end); Imatex, (middle price) Alenova (low to medium priced jacquard woven chenille) and Decornova, (dual purpose and drapery in 140 and 280 cm. widths).
Imatex is a 40-year-old weaver that exhibits at Proposte, Decosit and Heimtextil. Marco Guggi is the export sales manager. For further information, contact imatex@imatex.it.
