ITM Builds Wing to Accommodate New Looms
April 17, 2000
Kruishoutem, Belgium - The Belgian mill, ITM will begin construction on a new wing at its facilities in March, according to company sales manager Geert Van Brussel. ''Two years ago, we bought eight extra looms, which are in another facility,'' Van Brussel said. ''We will be closing the old facility, which is across town, when the new wing is finished.''
The addition to its facilities is representative of the company's growth over the past two years. ''From '97 to '98, we grew 70 percent,'' Van Brussel said. During the past year, the company's turnover increased another 17 percent. While its American sales have remained steady, the company has experienced growth in European markets, including Holland, Scandinavia and the U.K.
Van Brussel said that a significant amount of the company's growth resulted from its ability to cultivate the U.K. contract market.
''We sell to contract wholesalers in the U.K., who are often supplying bars and pubs,'' Van Brussel said. ITM offers collections in Kanecaron and Lufen.
Van Brussel said that 95 percent of ITM's sales are exported. F&FI
