Hoyne Retires From Spectrum
January 26, 2001
New York – Marjorie Hoyne will retire on 31 May from her position as president and creative director of Covington Industries' Spectrum Fabrics Division.
Spectrum, which was purchased by Covington in 1994, will be integrated into Covington Fabrics Division under Tom Bruno, who has been newly named vice president of sales of the division.
Hoyne joined Spectrum in 1982 as senior vice president and creative director. She began her career as a fabric editor. She has worked as marketing director at Courtalds North America and was president of Kenneth Home Fashions.
She has received awards for her work in the industry, including the Hometex Award and the Marvin Rosenberg Citizen of the Industry. She was also named one of the top 100 corporate women in the American business by Business Week Magazine.
"I'm sorry to leave my company and I'm sorry to leave my friends," she said. "I'm homesick to leave my friends." Hoyne's plans for the future are uncertain. "I might write a mystery book. I might do a lot of things. I've never been free before, so I don't know."
