January 13, 2009
FRANKFURT, Germany - Another edition of Messe Frankfurt's Heimtextil fabric fair began today, Jan. 14, at the Messe exhibition center here.
If unable to get to the show which is in its 39th year, Heimtextil's organizers are encouraging companies to keep up with the action by visiting the new site dedicated to trends; heimtextil-trends.com. The site features six specific sections that highlight the trends of the upcoming show which are titled Illusionist, Time Traveler, Fortune Teller, Alchemist, Witchcraft and Enchanted.
The site also features a blog component where readers can tune into what's happening on the fairgrounds each day.
Messe Frankfurt has also released a press briefing and overview in which the forecast for 2009's show is revealed. In it the organizers have stated that the supply side for home textiles is becoming diversified around the globe and strong production regions such as Turkey, China, India and Pakistan are offering a complete range of ready-made textiles and yard goods at all levels of quality. The guide also mentions emerging markets like Vietnam and Thailand, with focus shifting away from Europe, North America and Japan as producers but more as design hubs. The complete guide can be found on the Heimtextil Frankfurt website.
