Global Textile Alliance, Mattes & Ammann Forge Partnership
August 13, 2002
Colfax, N.C. (USA) — Global Textile Alliance, Inc. announced in June that it has formed a partnership with Mattes & Ammann, a German textile producer.
Mattes & Ammann, which dubs itself the oldest producer of double knit stretch jacquards, terry and velour in Europe, will join the GTA alliance of companies, according to Timothy M. Dolan, CEO of Global Textile Alliance.
"A quality driven manufacturing process has placed M&A as one of the true leaders in volume and value throughout Europe," Dolan said. "Although their primary market remains the bedding industry, M&A's quality and creativity helped them to become key suppliers in the automotive industry to companies such as Mercedes and Porsche.
According to Dolan, "After careful analysis we decided that our future was best handled by the larger of the two, Mattes & Ammann. They are the world's leader in knitting technology. Many foreign firms have tried to enter the United States market with poor supply chain capabilities and limited operational structures. These limitations caused excessive headaches for U.S. bedding manufacturers."
Steve Graven, executive VP of GTA said, "We are extremely pleased with this addition to our existing alliance partners. The union of Global Textile Alliance, Inc. and Mattes & Ammann allows the leader in stretch fabric technology a vehicle to service the North American market and to expand the capacities of Global Textile Alliance."F&FI
