January 1, 2010
Cape Town, South Africa — Funeral services were held here Sunday, August 25 for Frank Greenblatt, 55, owner of Svenmill, the large upholstery mill.
Greenblatt died of a heart attack at his home on Saturday. He is survived by his wife, Francine, two sons Brent and Adam and a daughter, Danielle.
Greenblatt had owned Svenmill since 1986. In 26 years running the operation, he built an export business with customers in 22 countries. He was known around the world to his customers as he personally handled the export business.
Aaron Greenberg, an executive with DuKane Fabrics and a sales agent in the U.S.A. for Svenmill, remembers Greenblatt fondly. "I knew Frankie for 25 years. He was one of the great human beings of this world," he said.
"Svenmill was a customer of Lanscot Arlen when I first met him and we became close, warm personal friends," said Greenberg, who was executive vice president of the American converter Lanscot Arlen in America for 25 years prior to joining DuKane. "We traveled together. He was loved by all who met him. He had a great reputation worldwide as a man of his word with a great sense of humor. He was also a great rugby fan.
"One of Frankie's greatest expressions was: 'A larf and a donce.'
Greenberg said that despite Greenblatt's death Svenmill as a mill is in good shape. Greenblatt was not involved in the daily running of the business. Gunther Link is the executive in charge of the mill and business will continue as usual, Greenberg confirmed.
"All orders will be filled and continuity is assured," he said. "All of our U.S. customers have been notified of Frankie's passing. In addition, new weaving equipment is now installed at Svenmill to increase the weaving capacity considerably. All orders will be handled expeditiously."F&FI
