Four Form Tahoe Mill, See $50 Million Sales
July 22, 2005
HIGH POINT, North Carolina — Four partners with expectations of a $50 million business in five years, have formed a new company under the name of Tahoe LLC which incorporates equipment and designs from Elizabeth Weaving Mills and Elite Textiles.
The plant will house 45 dobby and jacquard looms including wide width and finishing equipment to in order quickly produce one piece minimums, Peter A. den Boer, president of National Contract Associates (NCA) confirmed.
"We can counter the Chinese competitors by beating their 12-16 week deliveries," he said. In addition to its domestic business, Tahoe expects to expand its existing export business in Canada, Mexico and France. The line will sell for $4-$6.50 in residential lines and $4-$10 in contract to the wholesaler and furniture manufacturer.
Elizabeth operated in Blacksburg, South Carolina for many years before it went bankrupt one year ago. Elite was a commission weaver for National Contract Associates.
The new owners purchased the Elizabeth design archive of mainly traditional stripes, and plaids and merged that operation with Elite Textiles and National Contract Associates to form the new company in Albemarle, NC.
Elite was a commission weaver of olefin fabrics for NCA in Roswell, GA. prior to the merger. NCA will continue to sell contract and automotive fabrics to wholesalers under the brands of Olympia and Marathon.
The residential line will be marketed under the name of Elizabeth Home Fashions and Elm Road Classics.
The principals of Tahoe LLC are Peter A. den Boer, president of NCA; Ted Honeycutt, owner of Elite; Robert Leedy, CEO, previously CFO of NCA; Gregory Clower who will focus on contract sales and Roger Wittenberg who owns the physical plant in Albemarle, previously a financial partner in Elite. Wittenberg is also the inventor of Trex® an outdoor wood substitute.
