Former Design Director of Kasmir Fabrics Launches Independent Consulting Firm
June 29, 2010
DALLAS, Texas -- Bringing nearly three decades of experience as the former Design Director at Kasmir Fabrics, Jennifer Brooks Morris has successfully launched her full-service consulting firm to provide artistic sensibility with a commercial sense. Morris uses her experience working directly under Sam and Frank Kasmir to now provide cost-effective and artistic solutions to clients in any sector, having also recently worked with a number of converters, importers, and jobbers.
“About a decade ago, I noticed that residential and commercial markets were merging so that everywhere from boutique hotels to boutique assisted-living spaces were taking on a more residential feel,” said Morris. “The goal of my new business is to address the continuous bridging of this gap, and to do so, I work with clients in various sectors to bring together commonalities in styling, coloring, sampling, sourcing, and even common strategies for marketing and merchandising.”
Morris believes that the merging of these sectors will continue in part because the economy is still very much in a state of recession and businesses are casting a wider net rather than targeting niche markets during more prosperous times.
“I have an affinity for bringing to market fabrics which are designed and styled to be multi-purpose, which are constructed for multiple uses and which appeal to multiple markets, because those fabrics bring maximum return on investment,” Morris said.
Among her upcoming projects is a fabric program for a major retailer in North America that will be released later this year or early 2011. The name of the retailer was not disclosed, but Morris indicated that she is responsible for the layout of the sampling, as well as the design, styling and coloring of the product.
Although Morris is based out of Dallas, her new consulting business takes her to clients from all around North America.
