Evimteks's New Designs Drive Export Sales
January 13, 2003
Bursa - Evimteks owners and brothers Turk and Eser Ceykan have doubled the company's export business for three years in a row. The boutique producer of novelty curtains in polyester has made itself important to new suppliers by selling innovative designs.
''I came out of the construction industry with no formal training in the textiles industry,'' said Turk. ''My goal is to produce curtains that are different from the others - innovative fabrics just like the innovative buildings we put up in Bursa.''
Thus the seven-year-old manufacturer's designs are admired. ''Even my friends prefer to copy my designs,'' he said. ''I don't like it but there is no copyright on construction only design.''
Turk said he has developed some new basecloths for organza with natural looking yarns. Turk said antique effects are a particularly good seller for the company. ''All of the European wholesalers are looking for me. I am being tested with smaller orders for all of my new ideas.'' In yarn dyes, the wholesaler can buy a minimum of 200 meters a color and ion piece dyes, the minimum is 500 meters,'' Turk said.
''I think the Italians will buy our curtains, especially our organza. The Italians are more creative than the Turkish producers. We work too much. My hobby is to create new things.''
Evimteks produces on its own 18 looms and commission weaves on 12 outside looms. With a forthcoming expansion, 12 more looms will come under Evimtek's roof. A new location is also in the future, he added. Currently, the company delivers in 10 weeks. F&FI
