Designtex Announces Appointments
January 17, 2003
New York - Designtex has appointed two top-level managers: Leslie Lewitas, vice president product strategy and Barbara Skelly, vice president marketing. The appointments continue the reorganization begun when Designtex merged with Blumenthal and JM Lynne eight months ago. They also fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Susan Lyons, former executive vice president of design at Designtex.
As vice president product strategy Lewitas will take responsibility for corporate product development. ''It will be my job to keep my eye on the corporate strategy - making sure that our products support that coherent vision,'' she said.
The Varick Street Studio, Blumenthal and all design consultants will report to Lewitas. She will work closely with Patty Madden on the JM Lynne Collection and with Susan Lyons on the Designtex product introductions - particularly in the sustainable category. In addition, she will manage the product strategy for the Essex Collection.
As vice president marketing, Skelly will manage corporate identity, branding, sample graphics, advertising, promotion, events and public relations for all brands in The Designtex Group. F&FI
